WORDS A WORRY, MURDER NOT SO MUCH

An ABC newsreader expresses concern following an unexceptional honour killing in Pakistan:

Dishonour killing, maybe.

  1. Why does she consider the term ‘odious’ and one that ‘deeply offends’? Surely that is the question. I am an anthropologist. I suggest ‘customary killing’, for that is what it is. True multiculturalism is more than funny hats and dances, and that chi-chi eatery that’s ‘to die for’.

  2. How about “Honour murder”?

    Juanita is an awful name,too.

Perhaps we could replace it with “Stupid, politically correct, virtue signalling, dumb, bint”.

  3. Whilst she is into dissembling odious words, maybe she can suggest substitutions for genital mutilation, stoning to death, throat cutting, hand loping, burning to death, dissolving in acid and beheading. No doubt she already knows how to avoid using odious words like Islam, Islamic and muslim so she should find it easy to soften those other words.
