Reliably sensible Warren Mundine, Chair of the Prime Minister’s Indigenous Advisory Council, doesn’t support Fremantle council’s decision to cancel Australia Day fireworks because they’re “culturally insensitive” to indigenous Australians:

“As people know, I’m on the public record as saying I’d like to see another day celebrated [for Australia Day] but as all Australians, we do need to come together and by the banning of these fireworks, I don’t think that helps in that process of coming together.”
