Another flight of fantasy from Australia’s preeminent rape culture raver:
The New York Times had [Hillary] at an 85 per cent chance of winning, their infographic speedometer pointer poking towards ‘likely’.
Blame also for the dumb-assed Americans who aren’t nearly as clever as someone who suffers two unplanned pregnancies:
For who, aside from the most virulent of racist, misogynist bigots, would consider voting for someone who had not only openly admitted to the enthusiastic sexual assault of women but who had also been so successful in gleefully fanning the flames of racism that he had been officially endorsed by the Ku Klux Klan?
Cruel reality strikes:
Three hours later, I sat in a pub and watched, dumbfounded, as Donald Trump’s electoral college votes rose higher and higher. My three American companions began crying, and wept on and off for the next six hours. As queer women of colour, this result wasn’t just galling for them.
Unlike men, those three women are unsuited to any work involving pressure or disappointment. Then again, Ford can’t handle pressure either.
What I feel is angry and sad. Angry because I am infuriated by the kind of selfish bigotry that leads white people, a group that already experiences more power than anyone else, to use violence and abuse to solidify our supremacy above the people we fear taking (unearned and certainly undeserved) power from us. And sad because what it makes clear is that in a supposedly “post-racial” America, racism remains so paramount that a majority of women will rally against their own gendered interests in order to maintain the security they get not only from white supremacy but from the men most empowered by it.
America elected and then reelected a black President yet the country is dominantly racist? Woman, you are insane.
How is that anyone can make a living writing this drivel? That’s right, she “works” for Fairfax.
Update: More from Clemmie’s alt femi-verse:
“So here’s the part where you make a choice: What if you could have that power…now? In every generation, one slayer is born…because a bunch of men who died thousands of years ago made up that rule. They were powerful men. This woman is more powerful than all of them combined. So I say we change the rule. I say my power…should be our power. Tomorrow, Willow will use the essence of the scythe to change our destiny. From now on, every girl in the world who might be a slayer…will be a slayer. Every girl who could have the power…will have the power…can stand up, will stand up. …every one of us. Make your choice.
Are you ready to be strong?”
I’m choosing to believe that this is just the point in the story where Buffy realises the First Evil is gathering its army to destroy the world. It seems hopeless and she gets kicked out of the Scoobies and Xander loses an eye and there’s the whole Kennedy travesty. But eventually, Buffy is gonna find that scythe and have Willow use it to awaken all the slayers over the world. And then she’s gonna lead them to victory and send that motherfucker and all his minions back to hell.
Trump, and everyone who voted for him, is toast.
