Perth airport security staff have seized 306 weapons from passengers so far this year. It would be 307 except that I was able to check my “weapon” as stowed baggage at the last minute after alert screeners refused to let me board my flight. (The only sensible member of the security crew, a female, thought her colleagues were being ridiculously pedantic.)
The fearsome weapon? A bracelet. No problems boarding flights in Sydney, Auckland and Los Angeles or in travelling across America by train, however.
