WA is the nation’s worst state for motorcycle theft, with a staggering one in every 81 registered bikes stolen.
Over the past five years, more than 12,500 motorbikes have been stolen in WA, compared with 9300 in Victoria and 7300 in NSW.
In 2015/16 alone, six motorcycles on average were nicked every day and WA’s “theft rate” was more than double the national average, the National Motor Vehicle Theft Reduction Council said.
These figures are astounding considering that WA’s population is 2.6 million while NSW’s population is 7.4 million. It’s definitely the wild west.
