Clementine Ford posts an online petition in support of fellow feminist Yassmin Abdel-Magied’s disgusting Anzac Day Facebook post:
Yassmin Abdel-Magied is a deadset legend. She puts herself on the line and cops a lot of crap from racist bigots and Strayan dickheads. For speaking the truth about the horrors of war, Yassmin has been hounded by the Daily Toiletgraph and hundreds of dickheads on Facebook, many of whom are calling for her to be deported, stoned, beheaded etc. You know, all in the name of freedom.
Yassmin does not deserve this hatred. Yes, this is a meaningless petition – but so is the one circulating demanding the ABC fire her. (Very few signatures so far.) Send Yass some love by letting her know that you support her and recognise she deserves to be given a pony.
Abdel-Magied did not “put herself on the line”, as have Australian military personnel, she showed utter contempt for Australia and Australians, and is now receiving feedback, most of it not from “racist bigots” and “dickheads” but from rightly outraged ordinary Australians.
The dysfunctional feminist brain refuses to accept that all military personnel, and especially the male war-fighter, deserve our thanks. The Australian War Memorial states it simply:
Anzac Day goes beyond the anniversary of the landing on Gallipoli in 1915. It is the day on which we remember all Australians who served and died in war and on operational service. The spirit of Anzac, with its qualities of courage, mateship, and sacrifice, continues to have meaning and relevance for our sense of national identity.
Name-calling and telling anyone who disagrees with her to “fuck off” is Ford’s standard operating procedure. She is as much of a “troll” as the “racist bigots” and “dickheads” she condemns.
The best conclusion for this post is from Ford herself: “National pride can go fuck itself.”
Editing note: this post was originally incorrectly titled “Australia Day …”. Corrected.
