France’s highest court rules that male and female are the only sexes.
The lawyer for the plaintiff – identified only as Gaetan argued, “Gaetan is neither a man nor a woman. They do not feel like a man or woman. They cannot become a man or a woman. And they do not want to become a man or woman.”
The court noted, “in the eyes of outsiders, [Gaetan has the] appearance and social behaviour of someone of the male sex.”
I’m guessing that if you’re neither male nor female, ticking the M or F box on a form is the least of your problems.
