LEFTIST DUNCE TROLLED

Average Australians are unlikely to have heard of, or care about, the social media antics of Congresswoman elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, yet the ABC reports on the everyday trials and tribulations encountered by the naive young socialist:

It should have been a special week for America’s youngest elected member of Congress, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

After being elected with 78 per cent of the vote in her New York congressional district at the mid-terms,the 29-year-old visited Washington for orientation on Capitol Hill ahead of the start of her new job on January 3.

But she was left having to defend herself against social media attacks about her clothing and accusations she has misrepresented her working class roots.

Ocasio-Cortez is strapped for cash because she chose to seek elective office:

In an interview with the New York Times, she revealed she would not be able to afford an apartment in Washington — one of the most expensive cites in the USA — until she started in Congress because she has not been able to work during the election campaign.

Ideologically opposed social media users are less than sympathetic:

This has made her a target for conservative media, with commentators on a Fox News segment mocking her inability to pay rent in Washington as a “great political line” and saying she had worn “multi-thousand-dollar outfits” in photo shoots “that could pay rent in Washington”

They were designer clothes she had been loaned.

Whether owned or loaned, it was supremely hypocritical for Ocasio-Cortez to don a US$3,500 outfit during a photoshoot ostensibly meant to honour blue collar workers. She is, of course, as with all socialists, living in an alternative reality.
